Sustainable Concrete in the Construction Industry of Kurdistan-Iraq through Self-Curing
نویسندگان
چکیده
The improper curing of concrete can seriously affect its hardened properties. However, a large quantity water is required to cure after casting. Water valuable resource and availability posing particular challenge in the Middle East including Kurdistan region Iraq. Self-curing may be considered novel method that inside mix retained so hydration continue without supply additional Therefore, aim this study was include self-curing agent, named Polyethylene glycol-400 (PEG-400), as one constituents order save normally Six mixes were cast with constant W/C ratio 0.5; two them ordinary whereas other contained 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2% PEG-400 by weight cement. All ingredients, except PEG-400, provided locally. Three different regimes employed: air under ambient laboratory conditions, curing, using dosages PEG-400. Testing included compressive strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), absorption. results showed 1% optimum dosage used for self-cured concrete.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Sustainable Development and the Concrete Industry
An appropriate point to start is a reminder that concrete is by far the most important, the most versatile, and the most widely used building material worldwide. It has achieved this predominance because of a number of decisive advantages. If properly designed, it has excellent mechanical properties and is so durable that it can basically last forever. It is moldable into any shape or form and ...
متن کاملStrength Characteristics of Self-curing Concrete
Today concrete is most widely used construction material due to its good compressive strength and durability. Depending upon the nature of work the cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and water are mixed in specific proportions to produce plain concrete. Plain concrete needs congenial atmosphere by providing moisture for a minimum period of 28 days for good hydration and to attain desired ...
متن کاملEco-friendly Self-curing Concrete Incorporated with Polyethylene Glycol as Self-curing Agent (RESEARCH NOTE)
Today concrete is most generally utilized development material in the world due to its strength and sturdiness properties. To attain good strength, curing of concrete is important so we introduce the concept of self-curing concrete rather than immersion or sprinkle curing to avoid water scarcity. It was observed that water solvent polymers can be utilized as a self-curing agent, i.e. polyethyle...
